Ugandas 1st openly queer photographer

Telling African stories
with the dignity they deserve.

aka Papa De is the first Ugandan non-binary queer photographer, award winning self taught multi anti disciplinary visual artivist.

Deeply passionate about documenting and archiving African Queer youth, they are dismantling stereotypes of beauty and gender identity, exploring notions of home and belonging, migration and displacement and how all these multiplicities interconnect with the current climate crisis.

Navigating the realms of black queerness within the diaspora, DeLovie's artistry is a defiant stance against the colonial gaze, aiming to deconstruct prevailing narratives of fetishization, victimization, and the objectification of black bodies.

Their mission extends beyond mere representation; it's about the preservation of dignity and the reclamation of African queer histories that have been too often marginalized and erased.
